Hello! I'm Emily MacIntyre, owner and lead floral designer at Coastal Petals Farm. My journey into floral design is as personal as it is artistic.
I first discovered my love for the arts in high school and went on to pursue a degree in fine arts and scenic design in college. However, my parents nudged me in a different direction, and I ended up in nursing—a career that has enriched my life for nearly three decades. Despite its rewards, I always felt that something was missing.
My passion for flowers, deeply inspired by the work of Georgia O’Keeffe, has never waned. I once enjoyed painting flowers to capture their intricate beauty, but as my nursing career progressed—and with the demands of earning a master’s and doctorate, as well as teaching in academia—that creative outlet took a back seat.
Nursing taught me invaluable lessons: patience, attentive listening, calmness under pressure, and an appreciation for life’s fleeting moments. Whether caring for patients or nurturing seedlings into vibrant blooms, I see a beautiful parallel in both pursuits.
About twenty years ago, I began exploring floral design more seriously by attending floral school in Boston, reading extensively, taking online courses, and participating in conferences. Life’s twists delayed my dream of a full-time career in floristry, and it wasn’t until 2024 that I fully committed to creating Coastal Petals Farm, guided by the belief that pursuing a passion should never feel like work.
Coastal Petals Farm originated from a genuine passion for cultivating my own flowers and a strong wish to contribute to the Cape Cod community.
Flowers have a special way of touching our hearts, sharing stories, and bringing people closer together. Let Coastal Petals Farm be part of your story—one beautiful petal at a time!
